The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, where senior officials from participating countries gathered for discussions on international cooperation and global affairs.

Agreement Formalises US Participation

The agreement establishes a formal framework for US participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh, the international exhibition scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia from October 2030 to March 2031.

The United States is expected to present its technological capabilities, innovation, commercial strengths and cultural achievements through its pavilion at the exhibition.

Expo 2030 Riyadh is expected to bring together countries, businesses, institutions and innovators to showcase developments in technology, sustainability, infrastructure and other areas of international cooperation.

Strengthening US-Saudi Economic Ties

The signing reflects continued engagement between Washington and Riyadh on economic, commercial and international initiatives.

For Saudi Arabia, Expo 2030 is a major international event linked to its broader efforts to expand global partnerships, attract investment and showcase the country’s development ambitions.

For the United States, participation provides an opportunity to promote American innovation, strengthen commercial engagement and connect US businesses with international markets.

The agreement also highlights the role of major international exhibitions in supporting diplomatic engagement alongside trade, investment and cultural exchange.

What the Agreement Means

The formal participation agreement concerns the United States’ involvement in Expo 2030 Riyadh. It should not be interpreted as a new military pact or defence agreement.

Further details concerning the US Pavilion, its planned activities and the resources allocated to its development would need to be established through additional official announcements.
