Incident raises further concerns over maritime security

The Strait connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is a major route for international energy shipments.
The reported attack adds to a series of maritime security incidents affecting commercial vessels in and around the Gulf region.
Attacker and vessel identity remain unconfirmed
Reuters reported that Oman’s Maritime Security Centre did not provide further details about the vessel or the circumstances of the incident.
No responsibility for the attack had been established in the information available at the time of publication.
The evacuation of all 25 crew members is a significant development, but the available reporting does not establish the weapon used, the extent of the vessel’s damage or whether the incident was connected to other reported attacks in the region.
